L’Oréal UK and Ireland, the UK National Commission for UNESCO, the Royal Institution of Great Britain, and the Irish National Commission for UNESCO, have partnered together to provide the For Women In Science Fellowship Programme for postdoctoral level female scientists to promote scientific research in the life or physical sciences. Life Sciences Super Cluster Immunology Pilot Announced27 Jan 2010 Yesterday the Government announced plans for a new UK Life Sciences Super Cluster, supported by £1 million of Government investment. The new Therapeutic Capability Clusters will bring together industry, academia and the NHS to help deliver the next generation of medicines and technologies needed to support people suffering from chronic diseases. The scheme will be kick-started later this year with a pilot in immunology and inflammation focussing on disease areas such as asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. Japan Prize Invites Nominations for 2011 Award06 Jan 2010 The Science and Technology Foundation of Japan today announced the fields of studies eligible for the 2011 Japan Prizes, one of the most prestigious international awards in science and technology. The fields eligible for the 27th annual awards are information and communications, and bioscience and medical science. Graham Bull Prize in Clinical Science 201018 Nov 2009 The Royal College of Physicians is now welcoming applications for the Graham Bull Prize in Clinical Science 2010. The award established in 1988 in honour of the late Sir Graham Bull, provides money for young researchers under the age of 45 who feel that they have made a major contribution to clinical science.
