Lab technician / Research assistant in Molecular Immunology

We are seeking a highly motivated research assistant to join our young group of enthusiastic scientists dedicated to uncover the fundamental biological processes that regulate gene expression in the immune system and in cancer. The successful candidate will assist establishing new lines of investigation to understand the role of RNA-binding proteins in B-cell tumour transformation using animal models and latest sequencing technologies.

Lecturer in Viral Immune Evasion

Queen's University Belfast are seeking candidates whose research focuses on innovative molecular approaches to investigate viral mechanisms of immune evasion and alteration of cell signalling. They are interested in candidates working on human viral infections but outstanding candidates working in other viral infection models will be also considered. The successful candidate will strengthen the academic base within the Centre, they will teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and will contribute to School and Centre administration/outreach activity.

The new College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences at City University of Hong Kong, in collaboration with Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, is assembling an outstanding group of international academics to undertake teaching and research within the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health. This academic unit is rapidly developing as an international research-orientated centre to support veterinary training and research in Hong Kong and the region. The Department is well positioned to provide a strong link between the preclinical veterinary sciences and applied (clinical) veterinary medicine.

PhD opportunity

PhD opportunity working on transgenic mesenchymal stem cell production of eppin as a novel therapeutic agent in inflammatory lung disease. During the project you will:

1. Assess the status and function of eppin in BAL and serum in patients acute and chronic inflammatory lung disease.
2. Production and validation of tMSC overexpressing eppin.
3. Further explore the mechanism of immunomodulatory activity in vitro using LPS challenged alveolar macrophages.
4. Investigation of the utility of these transgenic cells as a novel intervention strategy using human lung tissue (precision cut lung slice) and in a murine models of lung injury.
