Group Leader - Cancer Immunology Program

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac) in Victoria, Australia is seeking multiple exceptional new research Group Leaders within the Cancer Immunology Program. The candidates will have an established or aspiring skill-set and broad strategic fit with their key strengths and strategic priorities.

The Peter Mac Cancer Immunology Program was established 24 years ago and is a recognised world leader in fundamental tumour immunology research and translation of immunotherapies for cancer into clinical practice. Peter Mac is seeking to appoint multiple outstanding researchers/clinical researchers in the field of cancer immunology/immunotherapy including haematology and solid tumours. The Group Leaders will develop and lead a team conducting internationally significant and innovative research to enhance our understanding of cancer development from fundamental biological principles of cancer to progression, evolution and translation into clinical practice.

Assistant Professor in Vaccine and Infectious Disease Immunology

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. Their mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice. 

The Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia is one of the largest scientific research centres in sub-Saharan Africa, with an international reputation for ground-breaking research into some of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the tropics. Their overall goal is to improve the health of people in developing countries by aiming for excellence in research, healthcare, and training. The research program spans basic scientific research, clinical studies, epidemiological studies and intervention trials, and translational research. The field and laboratory-based work draws on excellent research and clinical facilities and attracts international funding. 

Applications are invited for an Assistant Professor to join our Vaccines and Immunity Theme. The post-holder will lead the development and implementation of immunological assays to be conducted, predominantly to address exploratory objectives, with the clinical vaccine trial programme conducted within the vaccines and immunity theme. They will also contribute to the development of future immunological research within the theme – providing input into and leading future grant applications.  

The successful applicant will have a doctoral degree in a relevant topic/field and significant post-doctoral immunology experience, ideally in vaccine or closely related immunology.  

The post is full time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and fixed term for 2 years. The post is funded by the MRC Unit The Gambia and is available immediately. 

Salary: £51,299 to £58,723 per annum, inclusive.

Postdoctoral Position in Autoimmune Disease Research

The Haemostasis Research Unit (HRU) at UCL have an exciting job opening for someone to work on the autoimmune disease “Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura”. They are looking for someone who has a solid background in immunology and is enthusiastic about studying the molecular mechanisms that cause patients to develop autoantibodies against a particular autoantigen, as well as developing novel treatments that target the specific B-cells and T-cells that recognise the autoantigen. 

Required qualifications:

  • PhD in Immunology
  • Proficiency in molecular and cellular immunology techniques.
  • Strong publication record demonstrating expertise in autoimmune disease research.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Senior Research Associate in Cancer Immunology for Stimulus-Responsive Immune-modulation

The Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Oxford are seeking a full-time Senior Research Associate to join an interdisciplinary research team developing new stimulus-responsive techniques for ultrasound-mediated immune-modulation. The full-time post is supported by a benefactor donation to the University and is fixed-term for 24 months, with the possibility of an extension up to 1 year.

The overall aim of the project is to enable the development and clinical translation of a new generation of protein-based ultrasound-responsive particles specifically designed to illicit immune responses in tumours for enhanced cancer therapy. The specific role of the person appointed will be to design and perform testing both in vitro and in vivo to characterize and optimize the immune-modulatory response elicited by the combination of ultrasound and protein-based particles.

The candidate should possess a PhD in immunology, cancer biology, biochemistry or relevant discipline, with considerable post-qualification research experience. You also should have the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team of researchers with both physical and life sciences backgrounds engineers, biologists and clinicians, and have strong evidence of research achievement to date.

Call for 10 PhD positions within MSCA funded Doctoral Network IgG4-TREAT

IgG4-TREAT consortium is looking for highly motivated and talented PhD students to contribute to groundbreaking research in the field of IgG4-autoimmune diseases (IgG4-AID). The PhD researchers will have the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive training programme in academic and industry setup.

The consortium invites applications for 10 individual, multidisciplinary research projects aimed to advance understanding of IgG4-AID. Funding for these projects has been provided by the EU under the competitive MSCA Doctoral Networks 2022 programme. The deadline for applications is set for 31 January 2024. The individual projects are set to start between 31 March and 01 September 2024.

The applicants are required to meet the eligibility criteria of the MSCA Doctoral Networks Program. The successful candidates will receive funding for 36 months (or 48 months if based in the Netherlands) and will become part of a vibrant network of nine host laboratories with seven associated partners from seven European countries.

Tenure-track Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader/Professor in Cell Signalling and Immunology

The University of Dundee invites applications from immunology focused groups to join them at the level of tenure-track Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader or Professor (Grade 8-10, dependent on experience) within their Division of Cell Signalling and Immunology, to expand and complement their Immunology research programme. These appointments will form part of a 5 year programme to recruit up to 45 research active Group Leaders/Principal Investigators across a number of disciplines within the School of Life Sciences.

The two main criteria that all candidates will be assessed against are research excellence and collegiality. Research excellence should be evidenced by research outputs including papers and the ability to secure grant funding, as appropriate for career stage.
