BSI webinar: Immune response to SARS-CoV-2

This webinar was a joint event from our BSI Regional & Affinity Group and Connecting on Coronavirus webinar series. It was presented by Professor Akiko Iwasaki and brought to you by the BSI West of Scotland Immunology Group.

Speaker: Professor Akiko Iwasaki PhD, Waldemar Von Zedtwitz Professor of Immunobiology and Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology; Professor of Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology; Investigator, Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Professor Iwasaki studies antiviral immune responses and designs new vaccine strategies. She is currently directing translational immunology team to investigate the role of immune response in COVID-19 disease outcome. Her talk focussed on the immune responses that correlate with positive vs. negative COVID-19 outcome, and the sex differences in immune response to SARS-CoV-2 that underly disease susceptibility.

The BSI Regional & Affinity Group webinar series is supported by Miltenyi Biotec. The 'Connecting on coronavirus: the expert hub' webinar series is supported by our official journals, Immunology, Clinical & Experimental Immunology and Immunotherapy Advances.
