Careers in immunology: secondary science teaching



This webinar on careers in secondary school science teaching is part of the British Society for Immunology's 'Careers in immunology' webinar series. It will take place on Tuesday 15 June from 16:00 to 16:45 BST. It is presented by Victoria McGregor, a secondary school science teacher based in Glasgow. 

Victoria studied immunology at the University of Glasgow then went into teaching through the Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), a popular Scottish teaching qualification. She will describe her journey into teaching and how she uses the skills and knowledge learnt from studying immunology. She will cover how to apply for a teacher training course such as the PGDE, the day-to-day realities of being a secondary school teacher and the opportunities for career progression. 

After the session, you will have a better understanding of: 

  • The role of the secondary school science teacher
  • How to get on a teacher training course
  • The opportunities for career progression
