Immunotherapy Advances features ongoing special collections on high-interest topics in immunotherapy throughout the year. This collection entitled ‘Therapeutic exploration and understanding of the specific intracellular metabolic pathways in immune cell’ is led by Immunotherapy Advances’ Regional Editor for Europe, Associate Professor Marianne Boes, University Medical Center Utrecht, Netherlands.
Therapeutic exploration and understanding of the specific intracellular metabolic pathways in immune cells
Special Collection Editor: Associate Professor Marianne Boes, University Medical Center Utrecht, Netherlands
The field of immunometabolism has matured into a vibrant translational research area in the last decade. Immunometabolism concerns the interplay of immunological and metabolic processes in health and disease, and can be a major influencing factor and driver in other conditions like autoimmune and infectious diseases, cancer and obesity.
In this Special Collection, we will provide a comprehensive overview on metabolites and micronutrients in both hosts and pathogens and how they contribute to driving immune responses. We will be looking to cover the translational pipeline from discovery research and preclinical models right through to clinical and pharmaceutical research as it is applied to immunotherapeutics in the treatment of autoimmune and infectious diseases, as well as cancer.
We are also interested in articles summarising recent advances in studies of metabolic reprogramming, including first-in-human studies and negative clinical trials where they provide mechanistic insight. Submit your research to be part of the Special Collection.
Articles in collection:
Alexandra E Preston, Hal Drakesmith, Joe N Frost
Submissions for this series are open throughout 2021. Immunotherapy Advances welcomes original research, reviews, commentaries and TrialsWatch articles addressing a range of topics that contribute to our understanding of the immunotherapeutic treatment options for asthma and allergies.
