Submitting a scientific article to an academic journal can feel like navigating a minefield. How do you know that the journal you are submitting to is the right scope and scientifically rigorous? And how do the different types of publishing model from hybrid to open access, affect the visibility and impact of your work in an increasingly crowded research landscape?

This free to attend webinar, hosted by Rachel Moriarty, Publisher at Oxford University Press, and Professor Simon Milling, Editor-in-Chief of BSI journal Discovery Immunology, will share essential insights into the scientific publishing process.

The webinar will take place at 12:00 on Thursday 17 July. A recording will be made available to those who have registered.

What to expect

Rachel and Simon will explain what Editors look for when assessing a manuscript, common mistakes they have seen, and how to write a journal submission that is more likely to be accepted for publication, including what authors can do to avoid multiple rounds of reviews. They will also discuss how to effectively respond to reviewer comments and improve your manuscript during the revision process.

You’ll also learn how to choose the most suitable journal for your research, understand various publishing models, and ensure your work reaches the right audience after publication.
