Bioinformatics is now a potent driver of scientific development, complementing wet-lab research in immunology and becoming an essential skill for current and future generations.
The British Society for Immunology is excited to offer highly rated online training to equip wet-lab life scientists with the skills and confidence to perform their own bioinformatic data analysis. ‘Omic data analysis and visualisation using R’ is an entry-level course designed for wet-lab immunologists, biologists and other life scientists with no previous experience on bioinformatics or coding.
Do you want to do some omics and raise the impact of your research? Learn how to do it yourself in just two weeks!
This comprehensive course is essential for complete beginners and forms part of a wider bioinformatics training programme, developed and delivered by the Glasgow Bioinformatic Core and now offered by the BSI.
Course description
Starting on Monday 14 November 2022, this top-rated course covers the foundations of bioinformatics, R-coding and omic data visualisation through theory and extensive practical computer sessions, providing all the tools needed for you to do your own analysis of any omic dataset. It consists of ten online sessions in total, taking place on weekdays in the morning.
The course is delivered by John J. Cole, Manager of the Glasgow Bioinformatic Core, and his team of seasoned demonstrators, in the School of Infection & Immunity at the University of Glasgow. John’s background as a wet-lab biologist and decades of experience as a bioinformatician and lecturer perfectly positions him to help you master bioinformatics and R skills.
You will get:
- Digestible classes that fit around your lab schedule – they are mornings-only on Zoom
- Low-cost training, significantly more affordable than other courses – just £150 per week for BSI members
- Sought-after skills that will expand your career prospects – add it to your CV!
- Confidence to carry out bioinformatic data processing and analysis of your own, or public datasets
- Lessons on making beautiful plots using R (e.g. PCA, heatmap, violin, MA, volcano, pathway analysis, etc.)
And much more! Here you can view the full description, learning objectives and course outline.
