The BSI’s London Immunology Group is delighted to welcome one of the world’s most eminent Immunologists, Professor Abul K. Abbas (University of California San Francisco) for the event 'One-Day Masterclass in Basic Immunology – from fundamental principles to recent advances'. His research is focused on immunological tolerance and autoimmunity, the roles of different cytokines and T-cell subsets in autoimmune disease and the function of regulatory T cells. He is also the senior editor of the “Basic Immunology” and “Cellular & Molecular Immunology” text books.  

Prof Abbas’s masterclass is aimed at clinicians and scientists from broad backgrounds, working in immunological research and seeking an overview of the field. Preference will be given to clinical and research fellows and graduate students. Topics will include introduction to the immune system, antigen presentation, cell activation, T cell subsets, B cells and antibodies, tolerance and regulation.
