The meeting is organised by the University of Birmingham's Institute of Inflammation and Ageing and will feature leading international researchers working on basic mechanisms driving human ageing and its associated chronic diseases, with a focus on the role of inflammation.
The meeting aims to stimulate discussion of novel therapeutic approaches to prevent or overcome the negative aspects of ageing.
This years' conference will be held online, on the afternoon of 1 and 2 July 2021.
The programme includes four themed sessions:
- Senescence, Inflammation and Health
- Treating age-related diseases
- Obesity, metabolism and ageing
- Tools to understand ageing and disease
BSI President, Professor Arne Akbar, will give a talk on 'Targeting immunosenescence to enhance immunity' in the first session.

Abstracts can be submitted for the chance to produce five-minute, five-slide pre-recorded lightning talk which will be available online for one week prior to the meeting. A Q&A session for the lightning talks will be held during the lunch break each day. Prizes for the Best Submitted Abstracts will be offered to PhD students and postdoc researchers.
Abstract submission will close on Monday 31 May 2021.
Registration fees are £30 for students and £60 for postdocs, PIs and other non-student categories.
