Another metrics season is upon us, and the British Society for Immunology is thrilled to announce our new metric results for our three journals.
Discovery Immunology 2025 Metrics
Our newest journal, Discovery Immunology, has seen some great successes this year. One highlight has been the expansion of our scope to further embrace veterinary research, complemented by our ongoing special collection ‘Advances in Veterinary Immunology’, led by Dr Jayne Hope. In addition, we are also currently developing our first BSI Congress special collection, which will showcase some of the great research coming from the British Society for Immunology’s flagship event. From a metrics perspective, we’re pleased to report a substantial increase in our CiteScore which has risen to 4.2. This significant improvement reflects the quality and impact of the research being published in the journal, and we look forward to building on this momentum in the coming years.
We asked Prof Simon Milling, our Editor-in-Chief, on his thoughts on these results:
‘The Discovery Immunology team were very excited to see our CiteScore jump from 2.0 in 2024 to 4.2 on 2025, an impressive 110% increase from last year! This score gives us confidence that the articles we publish are being read and widely cited, and that the journal is proving to be a trusted source for Open Access immunology research for the immunology community. Clinical & Experimental Immunology 2025 Metrics
It has been a busy and exciting year for Clinical & Experimental Immunology. Our most recent development saw us welcome a new journal section in Immunometabolism, led by Prof Lizzy Rosser. 2026 also marks the journal’s 60th anniversary, and we’ve been spending time reflecting on the history of the journal and the remarkable research it has published over the decades. You can read more about this in our CEI Anniversary blog post. This year, we have seen the quality of our recently published research clearly reflected in our metrics performance.
Our Editor-in-Chief, Prof Claudia Mauri, shares her perspective: ‘I am delighted to see Clinical & Experimental Immunology continuing to grow from strength to strength. Our Impact Factor and Impact Factor ranking have risen, while our CiteScore has been maintained and our ranking position has improved. This success reflects the outstanding contributions of our authors, reviewers and Editorial Board members. As the journal continues to strengthen its position within the immunology community, we warmly encourage researchers to submit their best work to Clinical & Experimental Immunology. Immunotherapy Advances 2025 Metrics
Immunotherapy Advances has also had an excellent year showcasing a wide range of impactful research. Highlights can be found in some of the articles published for our special collections such as our Human Vaccine Challenge Models collection and our Neuroimmunology and Immunotherapy collection. These articles have performed especially well, and we are so pleased to be able to showcase them in a curated collection. With this recent metric release, we are happy to report a continuation of strong metrics for the journal.
Editor-in-Chief, Prof Tim Elliott, reflects on these here ‘I’m delighted to see Immunotherapy Advances has had another strong year. Our journal only launched in 2022 and the fact we can maintain such strong metrics is really a reflection of the great team we have behind the journal and the high quality of peer reviewers they enlist. I’d like to thank everyone who has submitted to the journal or helped to review the great research we have published.’

Together, the journals generate more than a third (36%) of the BSI's income, with all revenue from subscriptions and Open Access fees reinvested directly into activities that benefit our members and the wider immunology community.
Publishing with our journals not only helps disseminate important scientific discoveries to a global audience, but also supports the wider immunology community through a model that reinvests in researchers at every career stage.
