Nominations are now open for the EFIS-EJI Ita Askonas Award. This prize was established by the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS) and the European Journal of Immunology (EJI) to acknowledge female group leaders in immunology who have run an independent laboratory for a minimum of four and no more than eight years.
This award is open to female members of an EFIS-affilated National Society (which includes the BSI) working in a European research institution. Candidates must show an outstanding track record of achievement in immunology. The winner will receive €20,000, plus support for travel, accommodation and registration to attend the European Congress of Immunology (ECI). The laureate must be prepared to present her work at the ECI. You can read more information about the award on the EFIS website.
All nominations must be submitted to EFIS by an EFIS member society. If you would like to request the BSI's support of your application for this award, please send us the following information by Friday 6 April 2018:
- A short CV (no longer than 2 pages long)
- A one page statement summarising your contributions to research and why you should be considered for this award
- A list of your ten most important publications.
Please submit your applications and any queries to BSI Committees Officer, Angela Rausch. All applications will be assessed by a reviewing panel, who will select those deemed strong enough to be endorsed by the Society. If you are successful in gaining the BSI's support, you will need to provide additional information to allow us to put together a complete nomination package to submit to EFIS for the award.
