Make your voice heard in parliament – stand up for immunology

The Houses of ParliamentThe British Society for Immunology is calling on our members to take four actions to ensure that the voice of immunology is heard in the upcoming debates on triggering Article 50 to leave the European Union. Today (31 January) BSI President, Peter Openshaw, wrote to all members to highlight why now is the time to tell MPs just how important immunology is to the UK’s future. In this letter, he asked members to take the following actions:

  1. Make the most of democracy. Email your local MP to explain why immunology matters, using our template email and attach our briefing document, with our four key ‘asks’.
  2. Speak out for immunology on social media and in public debates to ensure the voice of science is heard.
  3. Encourage others to join the BSI. We have 3,200 members, but the more of you there are, the stronger our voice will be.
  4. Don’t give up – tell us how things are affecting you and why. Accounts of experience matter and carry real weight with politicians and journalists.

To support our members in these actions, we have put together a template letter to send to your MP and also a briefing document to attach, setting out our four key ‘asks’.
