
The British Society for Immunology (BSI) is delighted to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 BSI Immunology Awards. These awards celebrate the exceptional individuals and teams driving progress in immunology and making a lasting impact on the field.
Following the success of the inaugural awards in 2023, this year’s event promises to shine a spotlight on remarkable achievements across all levels and sectors of the immunology community.
Receiving a BSI Immunology Award is not only a mark of distinction but also a chance to amplify the impact of your work and inspire others in the immunology community. We encourage nominations from a variety of career stages across the immunology landscape – including academia, clinical practice, and industry – to ensure diverse contributions are celebrated.
Award Categories
Nominations are now open for the below categories:
- BSI Early Career Research Excellence Award: This award recognises an individual at an early stage of their career who has made an outstanding contribution to immunology research.
- BSI Immunology Research Excellence Award: This award recognises an individual who is at a mid- to senior stage of their career and has made an outstanding contribution to immunology research.
- BSI Outstanding Team Award: This award recognises an exceptional team whose collaborative approach has made a significant impact on immunology research and/or clinical practice.
- BSI Diversity and Inclusion Award: This award recognises outstanding contributions to promoting the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) within immunology.
- BSI Immunology Teaching Excellence Award: This award recognises an exceptional immunology teacher working in a higher education institute in the UK.
- BSI Public Engagement Award: This award recognises outstanding contributions to public engagement within immunology.
- BSI Outstanding Leadership Award: This award recognises an individual who has successfully integrated their scientific expertise with the leadership skills necessary to nurture, inspire and mobilise their peers to enhance the profile, impact and reach of immunology.
The below will also be awarded during the ceremony, with nominations for these awards submitted by BSI committees and staff:
- BSI Outstanding Ambassador for Immunology Award: This award recognises the contribution and impact of an individual who has been an outstanding ambassador for immunology in the UK.
- Outstanding Contribution to the BSI Award: This award recognises the contribution and impact of an individual who has been outstanding in their support for the BSI in the last two years.
How to Nominate
Nominations are open to all BSI members and can be submitted by those wanting to recognise their peers, or as self-nomination. We strongly encourage members to nominate an immunologist who has inspired them and fits the award criteria – this is our opportunity to recognise and celebrate the many amazing immunologists who have made a real and lasting impact.
