Welcome to our new BSI President

BSI President handover 2022
The outgoing BSI President, Professor Arne Akbar, and the incoming BSI President, Professor Tracy Hussell

The 2022 British Society for Immunology Annual General Meeting marked the official handover from our outgoing President, Professor Arne Akbar, to the incoming President, Professor Tracy Hussell.

We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to Professor Arne Akbar for the time, energy and care he has put into developing our strategy, guiding our activities and ensuring the BSI is run to the highest standards.

We are delighted to welcome Professor Tracy Hussell as the new BSI President who will continue to take the BSI from strength to strength.

I am delighted that Tracy Hussell will be taking over as President; I have known her for a long time and know how able she is. She will bring her own style to the role and I really look forward to seeing what she delivers. I wish her all the best and have total confidence that the BSI will go from strength to strength under her leadership.

Take a look at the latest issue of Immunology News for an interview about his time as President.

I am incredibly honoured to start my role as the new President and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the British Society for Immunology (BSI). The pandemic has highlighted the importance of immunology to the world and, in my four-year tenure as President, it will be my mission to ensure the BSI continues to be a positive force and voice for immunology. The BSI plays a critical role connecting and supporting our immunology community, as can be seen this week at BSI Congress. Building on the fantastic work of Professor Arne Akbar, the outgoing BSI President, I look forward to working together with the BSI Trustees, committees and our wonderful membership to continue advancing the Society's mission. A huge thank you to Arne for all he has done for the BSI through his strong leadership.
