Series Editors: Professor Sandra Amor, VU University medical center, & Dr David Owen, Imperial College London
We are pleased to present the first instalment of a new Review Series from our official journal Clinical & Experimental Immunology, 'Imaging immunological processes in neuroinflammatory diseases', edited by Professor Sandra Amor, Section Editor for neuroimmunology at Clinical & Experimental Immunology, and Dr David Owen, Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Department of Brain Sciences at Imperial College London.
Innate and adaptive immune responses in the central nervous system play critical roles in the pathogenesis of neurological diseases. In the first of this two-part series, leading researchers discuss how imaging modalities are used to monitor immune responses in several neurodegenerative diseases and brain cancers.
Professor Amor and Dr Owen have brought together six key reviews discussing the use of magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography in specific neuroimmune diseases, as well as advanced microscopical imaging using two-dimensional photon microscopy and in vitro live cell imaging. These novel approaches represent new tools to characterise, monitor and therapeutically target immune responses in the central nervous system.
We invite you to read the freely-accessible series papers below and we encourage you to share these articles on social media, looping in @CEIjournal on Twitter.
