Science Pub

– strictly peer reviewed

The format of SciencePub is changing!

Instead of monthly get-togethers, we are now linking SciencePub to the BSI seminar program, inviting speakers to join us in the pub to informally chat about their research and career progression! This format has been a great success in the past, where we took scientists like Dr Gérard Eberl and Prof Jonathan Yewdell to the pub.

In addition, we will also offer a quarterly special event, the "PI Q/A" session. PIs of the School of Medicine and the Institute of Infection & Immunity have volunteered to join us in the pub to talk about their research and career development. There are some interesting stories out there, so don't miss out on this opportunity to find out how your PI developed a career that led her/him to Cardiff, the School of Medicine, I&I and their particular field of research. Last year was a great success, when Dr Paul Brennan joined us to talk about his research, career and new role as Director of Postdoctoral-Development.

These pub meetings will also be a great opportunity to talk about YOUR research and ideas to the BSI speakers, the School's PIs and your peers!! Due to the success of "SciencePub Fresher's Event" and "Science in the Park", we are planning to organise these events on an annual basis. This means fewer and more randomly timed meetings, which we will advertise as usual on this site and our Facebook page about 1-2 weeks in advance.

So, keep an eye on this space.
