BSI Immunosenescence Affinity Group

The BSI's Immunosenescence Affinity Group aims to represent changes that occur to both innate and adaptive immunity during ageing and differentiation. This Affinity Group brings together researchers to highlight changes to all leukocyte types in the immune environment, focussing on how they are integrated, the impact of intrinsic (cellular-molecular) and extrinsic (physiological/ environmental) factors on immune alterations and strategies for intervention using evidence from animal and human models.

The objectives of the group are achieved via evening seminars and a bi-annual meeting to provide a forum for discussion between researchers. We would be pleased to hear from you if you are interested in joining the group and participating in these activities.

Below you can find more information about our committee.

Sian Henson

Chair,

Sian Henson

Sian is a Senior Lecturer in Immunology at QMUL investigating the deregulation of T cell metabolism during human ageing and how it maintains an inflammatory deleterious state.
Natalie Riddell

Secretary,

Natalie Riddell

Natalie is a Lecturer in Immunology at the University of Surrey where she is interested in understanding endocrine regulation of the immune system and how the immune system changes with age.

Catarina Henriques

Treasurer,

Catarina Henriques

Catarina is a Wellcome Trust/Royal Society Sir Henry Dale Fellow whose work focuses on understanding the interplay between immune regulation and tissue homeostasis in health and with ageing, using zebrafish as a model.
