Organised by Medicine at the Crick. this hybrid event is free to attend and will take place virtually and in person on Thursday 20th November 2025, 14:00-18:00.
 

The Medicine at the Crick event series showcases major advances in biomedical science and raises awareness of the medical implications of major scientific advances. Interested members of the wider UK biomedical community are invited to attend.

This 18th edition of Medicine at the Crick will be hosted by Carola Vinuesa (The Francis Crick Institute) and James Lee (The Francis Crick Institute).

Join leading international experts for an afternoon of cutting-edge science exploring important new discoveries in autoimmune disease. Highlights include descriptions of recently characterized immune cell subsets, including extrafollicular CD4 T helper and pathogenic B cell populations, and insights into how changes in gene expression impact responses to treatment. Speakers will also discuss the impact of environmental and sex-related modifiers including the microbiome, diet-derived metabolic signals, and male and female hormones on autoimmunity. In addition, the program will present the latest therapeutic breakthroughs, highlighting successes in CAR-T cell therapy in various autoimmune diseases.

Lectures will be followed by a Q&A panel discussion and a networking reception for in person attendees until 19:15.
