Congratulations from all at the British Society for Immunology go to the following immunologists who have been recognised in the New Year's Honours list.

Professor Janet Lord has been awarded a CBE for 'services to older people'. Janet is Director of the MRC-Versus Arthritis Centre for Musculoskeletal Ageing Research and Professor of Immune Cell Biology at the University of Birmingham. She is a world leading researcher on immunity in old age, in particular focusing on the decline in neutrophil function and how this compromises the response to infection and tissue injury. She aims to understand the mechanism involved and to develop novel therapies to improve immunity in older adults. She is also a co-investigator of the BSI-supported CARINA (CAtalyst Reducing ImmuNe Ageing) Network

Professor Peter Ghazal has been awarded an OBE for 'services to systems immunology'. Peter holds the Sêr Cymru Chair in Systems Medicine at the Systems Immunity Research Institute at Cardiff University. His research focuses on understanding how host-gene networks control infection, especially with those host-pathways associated with sepsis and the immune-metabolic axis. He is also recognised for his innovative work in 'team science', bringing computational data-intensive biology into hypothesis-driven research.
