The British Society for Immunology, in partnership with the type 1 diabetes charity JDRF, MS Society and Versus Arthritis, recently hosted a parliamentary event to raise awareness into autoimmune conditions and to ask MPs and other stakeholders to pledge their support using the hashtag #AutoimmuneAware.

Parliamentary Links Day is an annual event which brings together scientists, learned societies and members of parliament at Portcullis House in Westminster. The theme of this year's event was ‘Science and the Industrial Strategy’.

The study of microbes helps us to understand our world and our place within it. In celebration of World Microbiome Day on 27 June, the British Society for Immunology and the Microbiology Society have collaborated to curate a freely-available collection of microbiome research and review articles published in our journals. This unique collaboration breaks traditional disciplinary boundaries, bringing together those within the microbiology and immunology communities who have shared interests in how the microbiota function.

BSI Policy Manager Shannon Lacombe, reports on our recent trip to China to meet with representatives from the Chinese Society for Immunology and on our ongoing partnership and plans to strengthen links.
