The British Society for Immunology is fully committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults from harm.
Our policy outlines the legislation, principles and values that inform the practice of staff, volunteers and other representatives who work with children or adults at risk in the course of performing duties or services on behalf of the BSI. The welfare of people we interact with is paramount. This policy is operated in conjunction with UK safeguarding legislation and guidance, including Children Act 1989 and 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 and Care Act 2014. The policy should be read in conjunction with our 'Safeguarding procedures and processes' document and all documents can be found below. The policy was reviewed and approved by the BSI Board of Trustees in June 2023 and is due for review in June 2024.
