The 2025 Nobel Prize Virtual Issue

The 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Mary Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell and Shimon Sakaguchi for their discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance. Their discovery and research of regulatory T cells, cells that keep our immune system from attacking our own body, could lead to the development of new treatments for autoimmune diseases, treatments for cancer and may help in reducing complications for transplants.

To celebrate their achievement, we have collected papers on peripheral immune tolerance from all three of the BSI’s journals, Immunotherapy Advances, Clinical & Experimental Immunology and Discovery Immunology. We are proud to be able to contribute to such a vital part of immunology research.

As part of this virtual issue, we have also included the paper ‘Treg-based immunotherapy for antigen-specific immune suppression and stable tolerance induction: a perspective’ published in Immunotherapy Advances by prize winner, Shimon Sakaguchi.

We welcome any further research on this topic and thank our authors for choosing our journals.
